Materials:
Warp yarns: The color is usually fixed (typically black or white), serving as the foundational framework for the woven label.
Weft yarns: Used to render the images, text, and colors of the label; they constitute the primary elements of the design.
Production Methods:
Woven-edge labels: The label is woven to the required width in a single pass, resulting in a soft feel suitable for apparel. Common machinery includes shuttle looms and crochet looms. Shuttle looms produce labels with seamless, finished edges and a soft texture, though production efficiency is lower. Crochet looms are used for high-strength, heat-transferable labels with dense weft yarns, though production costs are higher.
Cut-edge labels: The label is first woven on high-speed machinery and then cut into strips to the desired width. Due to the heat-melting properties of polyester, the yarns fuse together at the cut edges, which may affect the label's appearance and texture.
Types:
Flat-weave labels: Created by the simple, direct interlacing of warp and weft yarns. Images and colors are primarily rendered via weft yarns; due to machine limitations regarding weft yarn varieties, the color palette is generally restricted to eight colors or fewer.
Satin-weave labels: Feature a higher warp yarn density than flat-weave labels, resulting in a smooth, glossy surface texture.
Double-sided labels: All weft yarns are doubled to allow for richer detail and color expression.
Double-weft (Heavy-weft) weave: An extra layer of yarn is added when a specific color requires a more pronounced three-dimensional effect.
